Established by father and son Ken and Mark Maxwell in 1979, Maxwell Wines is a 100 acre estate vineyard, winery and restaurant in McLaren Vale. Maxwell’s have built a reputation for producing handmade, rich and robust reds that combine exquisite fruit quality with structure and finesse. The range is headed up by a reserve Shiraz named the ‘Minotaur’ followed by the ultra premium Ellen Street Shiraz and the Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon. The full range is then made up of blends of Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz Grenache & Cabernet Malbec along with single varietals such as Grenache, Malbec, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Verdelho. The winery is constructed from limestone and old solid timber, the design also allows visitors the opportunity to view a ‘working winery’ while sampling the wines and taking in the magnificent views from the cellar door. Maxwell’s Cellar Door is open daily 10am-5pm.
Adjoined to cellar door is Maxwell Restaurant, an idyllic place for an unforgettable food and wine experience. Complemented by large picture windows with breathtaking views overlooking the rolling hills of McLaren Vale. With guests surrounded by a vista of vines, the setting provides the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed and intimate occasion. Inside, an impressive limestone open fireplace creates a focal point, separating the restaurant from the cellar door.
The restaurant A la carte menu and chef’s selection degustation are both available for lunch 7 days a week from 12pm to 2.30pm.
Chef Fabian Lehmann brings years of international culinary experience, alongside Pastry Chef Jason Brown, who brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to the table.
